Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

IPL before and after photo

What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) is a photorejuvenation process that provides the most skin-safe, comfortable and effective photo facials available, with minimal to no downtime.

How is IPL used?
The photorejuvenation process uses pulses of concentrated light to treat the face, chest, arms, hands and other areas. The following can be treated with our Palomar StarLux IPL System:

  • Sun damage- wide areas of pigmentation on the face, neck, chest and other sun damaged areas on the body.
  • Sunspots- pigmented lesions, also known as age spots.
  • Rosacea- general inflammation of the cheeks and face.
  • Spider veins- individual vessels, which can be red, blue or purple in color.

What can I expect?
You can expect a mild sunburn like sensation immediately after the treatment, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling. The pigmented lesions will become darker over the next few days and will naturally shed from the skin in 1 to 2 weeks.

How long do the effects last?
You will see results after the first treatment, though typically, a few visits will be necessary to treat sunspots, rosacea and vessels depending on the severity. Maintenance treatments will give your skin added improvement.
